Learn about the development of whiteness as a racial category with One Human Race! We’ll show clips from the PBS documentary Race: The Power of an Illusion tracing the emergence of the idea of whiteness and how it has been defined and redefined throughout our history. Then we’ll examine our own feelings and ideas in a safe, open, and productive environment by sharing in small groups led by trained facilitators.

Gina Houston is a native Austinite and a cradle Episcopalian born and raised at St. James’ Austin. She has a BA in Theatre Performance from St. Edward’s University and is currently employed at the Internal Revenue Service. Gina has been participating in the One Human Race workshops since they began.
